In Cross Plains, Wisconsin, I had the privilege of documenting the Mack’s Missio fundraiser run—an event driven by a powerful mission to raise awareness about PACS1 syndrome and make a meaningful impact.
Mack’s journey began at nine months old when his development differed from his peers. After numerous medical appointments and tests, he was diagnosed with PACS1 syndrome in June 2021. This rare genetic disorder affects fewer than 200 people globally, often leading to lifelong care needs, developmental delays, epilepsy, and language impairments.
Despite the challenges, Mack’s spirit shines through. He’s learning sign language, demonstrating remarkable work ethic, and displaying extraordinary kindness. His story is a reminder that determination can transcend limitations.
Mack’s Mission has a dual purpose: to find a PACS1 syndrome cure and to give back to the community. The fundraiser run I captured was a manifestation of this mission, with participants coming together to support Mack and the cause.
The Cross Plains, WI fundraiser run was more than an event; it was a celebration of resilience and community power. Mack’s journey and Mack’s Missio inspire us to make a difference in the lives of those in need. As an event photographer, I’m proud to be part of this story of courage and determination.
